Tunga

5-28-2014

With Carole visit galleries in Chelsea. First said helllo  to Adrian, then saw an solo exhibit by TUNGA, whom I had seen already at Inhotim years ago, at Luhring Augustine gallery on W 24th

A very friendly and helpful young man explained the concept a bit, the pulling together of sky and earth, the body and the spirit, the recurring tripod and circles. Cool.
Then at Gagosian, we saw an exhibit of Julian Schnabel's work and again asked a friendly young man, Alex in this case, to explain a bit which made it a lot more interesting. The use of previously used materials, canvases, drop cloths. Still didn.t quite get the supposedly imagery of despair, delight, whatever.

Then at PACE saw TARA DONOVAN totally cool, two works as follows:

This was a totally cool store called KIMCHEROVA on 523 W 25th. Carole loved it, very interesting jewelry.
And this is a Colombian designer somewhere around there.
